-- Laura Ries to Present Remarks April 30th Based on Her Newly Released Book --
BALTIMORE, April 8, 2009 -- Warschawski, a full service public relations, marketing and advertising agency, today announced that its second Martini Marketing with Warschawski speakers’ series will feature best-selling author and branding expert, Laura Ries of Atlanta-based agency Ries & Ries. Martini Marketing with Warschawski was established in 2008 to engage, inspire and inform Baltimore area professionals through expert commentary on topics in marketing communications.
Laura is a frequent commentator and source for Fox News, CNN, The Wall Street Journal and Advertising Age. Together with her father, marketing strategist Al Ries, they have co-authored five highly acclaimed books, including War in the Boardroom, The Origin of Brands, The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding, The 11 Immutable Laws of Internet Branding and The Fall of Advertising & The Rise of PR. Laura and her father have been profiled in BusinessWeek, USA Today, Advertising Age, The Wall Street Journal and countless other domestic and international magazines and newspapers.
The event, which will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at the new Gin Mill located at 2300 Boston St. in Baltimore, will allow time for networking, socializing and Q & A. For more information about Martini Marketing with Warschawski or to register for the event, please visit www.warschawski.com/happening/. There is no charge for admission to the event. There will be a cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of the Gin Mill.
Laura will present remarks based on her recently released book War in the Boardroom: Why Left-Brain Management and Right-Brain Marketing Don't See Eye-to-Eye and What to Do About It. She will help answer the question: How do you get marketing and management to better understand and appreciate each other's roles in helping brands succeed? Management people tend to be left-brain thinkers: they are verbal, logical and analytical. Marketing people tend to be right-brain thinkers: they are visual intuitive and holistic. Working together can be difficult when one side believes in reality, cleverness and communication and the other believes in perception, credentials and positioning.
“We are thrilled to welcome Laura Ries to Baltimore as she joins us and fellow Baltimore-area professionals in an informal setting to learn more about trends and issues in branding, marketing and PR that affect the success of businesses on national and international levels,” commented David Warschawski, CEO of Warschawski. “We believe that having fun and doing great work are not mutually exclusive concepts and the Martini Marketing series is another example of how we can stay on the forefront of marketing communications trends while socializing and having fun with industry peers.”
