-- Agency Hired to Create Website for The Journey Home, City's Ten-Year Initiative to End Homelessness --
BALTIMORE, February 15, 2010 -- Warschawski, a full service branding, public relations, marketing and advertising agency, announced today that it has been tapped by the City of Baltimore and the United Way of Central Maryland to develop a comprehensive website for The Journey Home, a city-led initiative to end homelessness in Baltimore within the next ten years. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Warschawski will work with the City of Baltimore and the United Way to create the site, which will act as an online hub for the campaign. The website will explain the current homelessness situation in Baltimore, highlight key information about the city’s ten-year plan, offer resources for the homeless and provide ways for citizens to contribute financially and as volunteers. The site will tie in with the popular social networking sites YouTube and Facebook to further spread the word about The Journey Home project.
City officials estimate that more than 3,000 people go without shelter every night in Baltimore. Eleven percent of these individuals are thought to be younger than 18. The Journey Home campaign is focused on achieving enhancements in four key areas: affordable housing, comprehensive health care, sufficient incomes, and preventive and emergency services. The initiative is a joint effort between the City of Baltimore and the United Way of Central Maryland.
“We’re thrilled to work with the City of Baltimore and the United Way on The Journey Home initiative to help end homelessness in Baltimore,” commented David Warschawski, CEO of Warschawski. “This campaign presents a wonderful opportunity for us to put our expertise to work for an important cause that hits close to home. We look forward to creating an interactive web experience that will give the citizens of Baltimore a greater understanding of homelessness in our city and help motivate them to get involved in the effort to solve the problem.”
