Our internship is not like other marketing communications internships. In fact, we don't even use the term "internship" or "interns" because it doesn't accurately depict the position.
An intern at Warschawski is considered an Assistant Associate (an AA) and our program is called our AA Program. AAs play an integral role within the Warschawski team and on client accounts. They are considered and treated as full team members.
In addition to administrative duties, our AAs get real hands-on experience working as part of account teams, not merely as observers. At Warschawski, AAs learn how and why strategic decisions are made. They are welcome and encouraged to participate in brainstorming and strategic sessions, and are proactively involved in account work and assisting full-time team members on client work.
All AAs receive continuous mentorship from the AA Program administrators. AAs also receive at least one 360 degree review during their AA term at Warschawski, and are often provided with on the spot feedback and mentoring.
Applicants can choose which concentration of the AA program best suits their interests and skill set – becoming an Assistant Associate Marcom or an Assistant Associate Creative. The AA Marcom program focuses on marketing communications practices while the AA Creative program focuses on creative and interactive design practices. The qualifications for each position are listed below:
AA Marcom applicants must have strong writing, communications and interpersonal skills. Confidence, poise, an inquisitive nature and an entrepreneurial spirit are pluses. Applicants should also have a strong desire to enter the marketing communications field and a continued willingness to learn throughout their AA tenure. Proficiency in typing, basic Internet and computer skills (i.e. working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel) are required. Preference is given to recently graduated college seniors, and students in their senior or junior year of college.
AA Creative applicants should have the following skills:
- PHP
- MySQL
- Javascript
- ActionScript 2 & 3
Other skills preferred but not mandatory:
- Flash
- Ruby on Rails
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe Dreamweaver
As Warschawski offers a truly unique immersion experience, all of our AAs are required to commit to the entire three month term of the AA Program.
Hours: The AA Program is full-time and requires the AA to work 40 hours per week. This is an unpaid program (NO exceptions). We do offer the opportunity to receive college credit.
What will you gain from your AA experience? Our program will offer you first-hand experience and the opportunity to assemble a comprehensive branding, marketing, public relations, advertising, digital and creative design portfolio, which will give you a competitive advantage when applying for a job in the marketing communications field.
Based on an AA's performance, Warschawski may offer continued employment opportunities upon the completion of the program. Many full-time Warschawski team members have gone through our AA Program.
To apply for an AA position, please indicate the position (AA Marcom or AA Creative) for which you would like to apply, and send your resume and cover letter to Erin Prosser at erin.prosser@warschawski.com.
